ATTENTION: ATTENTION: ATTENTION:

Please be sure to follow these directions

Changes to Login Procedure

Instructions for students and faculty follow.

Effective Fall 2007:

Students:

Your user login name is your first name followed by a dot and then your last name followed by a 1 (if there are two students with the same name, the second student will have a 2, so you may have to try both). For example, John Smith’s user login name would be john.smith1
All lowercase.

PLEASE NOTE: If your first.last# login name is longer than 20 characters, you must contact StudentSupport to get your correct login name.

Initially your password will be assigned by Blackboard to be your student id number (the number on your One-Card). As always, you should change your password ASAP to protect your work. To change your password, click on Personal Information on the left, just after you log in. Then click on Change Password.

Also very important!!!Please check your other Personal Information (on the left after you log in) to make sure your email address is correct. Otherwise, neither your instructor nor your fellow classmates can contact you. Thank you!

Because you will not be able to create new accounts, if you forget your password, you should contact the Director of Online Instruction, Dr. Joanne Clemente, blackboard@dc.edu

Faculty: Your login convention is your first.last name (no numbers). Your previous course should be copied into the new semester's version. Please make your new course Available and your previous course Unavailable If you have any questions, contact Dr. Joanne Clemente, Director of Online Learning, blackboard@dc.edu

System Announcements

  • Opening Documents (Tuesday, September 29, 2009)

It has come to my attention that it is often tedious to open a document in Blackboard. It usually requires a 3 step process:

1-attempt to open a document, such as a Word or PowerPoint file.
2-a yellow warning bar appears towards the top of the screen and requires you to agree to "download file"
3-If you click on the "download file", you are brought back to the home page where you must click on the button that brings you to the document that you can now click to open.

    There is a better way!

1-In Internet Explorer click the Tools menu, choose Internet Options, click Security, and click the green Trusted sites icon.  Click the Sites button and a window will open, where you can add the Blackboard site (http://bb.dc.edu) to the Trusted zone. Remember to uncheck the box to ask Server for permission and to click on the Add button which brings the address of Bb into the large text box. Click OK.

2-In Internet Explorer: Turn off pop-up blocker.

    OR

Use FireFox as your browser instead of Internet Explorer.
